We are so grateful for all of your support and questions. This letter was designed with the intention of addressing some of the more common questions that we’ve seen. To help alleviate confusion, here are the types of soccer that we offer:
RECREATIONAL SOCCER
Recreational Soccer features small-sided teams that play against each other in Baltic every week. This is ideal for players who are new to the game, or even players who want to keep their skills sharp for fall, but have other spring interests, such as softball or baseball. When a player registers, they are guaranteed a spot on a recreational team, but can opt-in for competitive soccer (see below).
- For kids from preschool through 8th grade
- Games will be Saturday mornings starting April 15th
- Games will be at either 9:00 a.m. or 10:30 a.m.
- No travel, all games are in Baltic.
- Not school-affiliated, so public and private school, as well as home school students from any district are welcome.
- Each team will wear a different colored Baltic Soccer shirt which will be handed out the first week.
- Shin guards are required for practices and games.
- Soccer cleats are optional but recommended for recreational soccer.
- Practices will be on Monday night, at either 5:30 p.m. or 6:30 p.m., beginning April 10th
- Final games are June 3rd and the last practice is May 29th
COMPETITIVE SOCCER
Competitive soccer allows players with more experience to test their skills in the Tri County league against other clubs from Tuscarawas, Carroll and Stark counties! Teams are dependent on numbers and interest.
- Open for the following age groups:
- U8 (for 1st and 2nd grade students) – 6v6
- U10 (for 3rd and 4th grade students) – 7v7
- U12 (for 5th and 6th grade students) – 9v9
- 6v6, 7v7, 9v9 includes goalkeeper.
- Our club currently only offers one (1) team per age group unless demand requires a second team.
- Some travel required. Roughly half of our games will be at our home field in Baltic, and the others will require travel to other club fields. Our league schedules teams that are more than 30 minutes apart to meet at neutral sites whenever possible. In Fall 2022, our neutral site games were in Strasburg.
- Practice will be on Monday and Thursday nights starting in March. More details after registration ends.
- Games will begin in April and run through June. Schedule is made by the league after registration ends.
- Shin guards and soccer cleats are required for competitive soccer.
- If you are interested in participating in competitive soccer, please email our club president, Brian Trexler at brian@balticsoccer.com
REGISTRATION ENDS ON MARCH 4. WE LOOK FORWARD TO SEEING YOU ALL OUT ON THE FIELD!
